Iridescence

12″ x 17″ original acrylic painting

Ontario Federation of Anglers & Hunters 2014 Conservation Lottery Print

Spring of the year; flora and fauna of the planet set out to renew for another year. I always enjoy studying ducks in the spring, especially Wood Ducks. They’re so much more prevalent at this time of year.

This mated pair took a brief moment to rest on a barely submerged log. As they basked in the late morning sun, their feathers caught the light to reflect a beautiful, shimmering iridescence. It was in that moment the name of this painting revealed itself to me.
